- I’ve been in private practice as a psychotherapist in the Northwest for 10 years. I love my profession!
- I received my MSW (master of social work) in 1989 from California State University, Long Beach, and I became a licensed clinical social worker in 1992. My clinical studies focused on family and children.
- I attend training in my field several times a year, far beyond what is required to keep my license active. I recently completed about 3 years training in Gestalt Therapy, and I’m currently actively resuming training in hypnosis. I have also trained extensively in mindfulness therapy, cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. All of these perspectives inform my work with clients.
- I have practiced meditation and other contemplative practices for 30 years, primarily in the Buddhist tradition. I am authorized to teach meditation. I am also familiar with and supportive of clients of any spiritual or religious orientation, as well as agnostics and atheists.
- I have been a helping professional for 30 years. My first job in the helping profession was as a counselor in a substance abuse program in 1981. I worked there for 7 years, and then I worked for 10 years as a counselor and clinic supervisor in the Alcohol and Drug Program of Orange County. I have certificates from University of California in alcohol studies and chemical dependency counseling.
The conclusion is that I’ve been around awhile. Will my experience help you? Yes, I think it’s very possible that I can help.
