- I’ve been a psychotherapist for over 20 years, and I love my profession!
- I received my MSW (master of social work) in 1989 from California State University, Long Beach, and I became a licensed clinical social worker in 1992.
- I attend training in my field several times a year, far beyond what is required to keep my license active. I recently completed 3 years training in Gestalt Therapy, and I’m currently actively resuming training in hypnosis. I have also trained extensively in mindfulness therapy, cognitive therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic therapy. All of these perspectives inform my work with clients.
- I have practiced meditation and other contemplative practices for 30 years, primarily in the Buddhist and Christian traditions. I am also familiar with and supportive of clients of any spiritual or religious orientation, as well as agnostics and atheists.
- I belong to the following professional organizations:
- National Association of Social Workers
- Washington State Society of Clinical Social Workers
- ACBS: Association for Contextual Behavioral Science
- American Society of Clinical Hypnosis
- My first job in the helping profession was as a counselor in a substance abuse program in 1981. I worked there for 7 years, and then I worked for 10 years as a counselor and clinic supervisor in the Alcohol and Drug Program of Orange County. I’ve been in private practice since 2002.
The conclusion is that I’ve been around awhile. Will my experience help you? Yes, I think it’s very possible that I can help.
